On several occasions during your petitioner's service, he has been assigned to various duties in addition to his Police duties, and has discharged these duties and other positions, for instances:
(a) During the early years of your petitioner's service, he was constable in charge of the Central Police Station receiving room duty, and was paid extra pay in respect thereof and for extras duly at Chinese Theatres (the latter duty being incident to the charge room duty) amounting from $10 to $25 per month, varying with the number of extra performances at the theatres.
(b) On two or three occasions, your Petitioner has been in charge of the Central Police Station Canteen for periods of over six years in all, receiving in respect thereof extra pay amounting to $10 per month.
(c) From February 1887 to the 30th September 1888, your Petitioner was Inspector of Weights and Measures, receiving in respect thereof extra pay amounting to $20 per month.
(d) From February 1887 to the end of October 1888, your Petitioner was also Acting Inspector of Markets, receiving in respect thereof a third-class Inspector's full pay.
(e) On the 10th November 1887, your Petitioner received from the Registrar General a letter, a copy of which is contained in the second Schedule hereto.
(f) From June 1895 until July 1897, your Petitioner was Acting Inspector of Dangerous Goods, receiving in respect thereof extra pay amounting to $10 per month.
Further, your Petitioner about twelve years ago received from the HongKong Government a fourth-class good conduct medal, with a permanent addition to his pay of $2.50 per month. The granting of medals is regulated by Ordinance 14 of 1884, Section 25, which provides that the Governor shall have power to grant distinctive badges or medals to officers and Constables for long and faithful or extraordinary services.
(g) Again, in October 1896, your Petitioner received from the Government a third-class good conduct medal, with a permanent addition to his pay of another $2.50 per month.
Your Petitioner has also received the Community for services tendered during the relief of 1894.
Your Petitioner humbly points out that his holdings of the above extra positions prove conclusively that the Hongkong Authorities from time to time approved of the way in which he discharged his various duties.
